Wed Jun 10 2009 - Want more pizzazz from your purse?

Oakville-based Luvali Convertibles has it in the bag. How it works is, actually, in the bags. Choose a handbag, shoulder bag or tote – each comes with a reversible slip ($60). Then expand your look with an additional, reversible cover ($22).

"You need something unique in this economy," says co-founder Jacqueline Dinsmore who created the line with her mother, Shirley Durk, 60. "People want to spend money on things that are different and fun," Dinsmore says.

The idea came to the 35-year-old mother of two in 2007, as she listened to her mother fret over which of several bags she should take on a cruise. "I says, `Wouldn't it be fun to take one bag with four different looks?'"

Mother and daughter last summer launched their line, which also includes reversible kids' hats – from bunny to puppy, or kitty to lamb in seconds. Luvali goods are now carried in stores across Canada and the U.S. and they were named a top 10 product by The Canadian Gift & Tableware Association.

Kids' T-shirts, onesies and diaper bags will soon be available.
